Icopal Synthetic Membranes - History
Icopal Synthetic Membranes started with the acquisition of Van Besouw Kunststoffen (Synthetics) in 2008. Van Besouw Kunststoffen was a part of Van Besouw Tapijt (carpet) that produced and did the marketing for industrial carpets since 1920. Already in 1960 the company started to focus on innovative technology and processes, where extrusion technology was applied in the existing technique of carpet weavery. Quite soon it became clear that this technology could also be applied in other industrial processes and under the name of Van Besouw Kunststoffen, many new products (specials), like truck covers, geomembranes and sewer liners were developed. The discovery of the usage of extrusion technology for the sealing of roofs in the 1960's was the first step within the roof sector for the company. Every day Icopal Synthetic Membranes works on improving the products and processes by good cooperation of production, product development and sales.
